Funeral services for Dorothy Parker Golsby Burson age 84 of West Monroe, Louisiana will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral in West Monroe, LA. Albert Lawson will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Dorothy was born January 29, 1930 in Crowville, LA and passed away November 3, 2012 in Shreveport, LA following a lengthy illness. Dorothy was a retired educator and principal with the Richland Parish School System. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed sewing, traveling and sharing her faith with others. Sister Burson was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served faithfully to the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Maggie Parker of Crowville, LA and grandson, Robert Bobby Golsby of Denham Springs, LA. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Ernest Burson; son, Robert Buster Golsby; daughters, Connie Golsby Pankey and husband Laney, Harriet Trussell, Cynthia Guffey and husband Wayne; grandchildren; Christopher and Susan Knight, Caleb Trussell, and William M. and Anita Pankey, Lanya M. and Roy Bernard, Kevin Scott Pankey and Heather Golsby; great-grandchildren, Gavin M. Pankey, Luke J. Pankey, Morgan Widner and Reese Widner; step-grandchildren, Michale Taunton and Allan Taunton; step-sons, Tommy Burson and wife Melba; Jerry Burson and wife Juawanna; step-grandson, Jonathan Burson; sister-in-law, Merilyn Chriceol and husband Henry. Pallbearers will be Jason McClary, Slade Reynolds, Glynn Ezell, Mark Cleveland, Edward Krueger and Justin Brodnax. Honorary pallbearers will be W.H. Hackworth, Bob Baker and John Ney. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness of West Monroe or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
