Doris June Dunn Baker was born on May 24, 1929 in Harrison, AR and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Leamon Baker, who died in 1994. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 in McCutcheon Cemetery in Bass, Arkansas.She is survived by her son, Tom Baker and wife, Deanie of Monroe, LA; daughters Becky Benbrook and husband, Jim also of Monroe, and Sarah Beth Litzenberg and husband, Bill of Franklin, TN, along with 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Guy, Toni and husband, Clay, John Leamon and wife, Ashley, Molly, Lessie, Laura and husband, Adam, and Seth; 5 great grandchildren, Shelby, Ian, Layton, Jane, and Claire; and 2 great, great grandchildren, Gracyn and Bowe; and a host of nieces and nephews, and her special lady friends at Azalea Estates.Doris loved her family with all her heart and prayed daily for their godliness. She loved her Lord and had strong faith that he would answer her prayers. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bastrop, LA.Doris will be remembered for her desire to be dressed to the Nines, whether at early morning breakfast or going out to shop. She learned to play the piano and organ by ear at a very young age and by winning a talent contest during High School, she was awarded the opportunity to host at the age of 17 a radio program on Saturday mornings called “Musical Moments with the Adorable Doris Dunn”; this God given talent followed her into her later years while entertaining her many friends at her assisted living home of Azalea Estates in Monroe. Doris was also a very talented cook, whose desserts were craved by all that sampled them.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
