Services for Donald Henry Zeigler, Sr., 86, of West Monroe will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. R.C. Smith, Rev. Tuck Roberts, and Rev. Larry Linson will officiate. Interment will follow at Zeigler Cemetery in Eros, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Zeigler passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at his home entering into Heaven's Glory. Mr. Zeigler was born in West Monroe, LA on February 6, 1927, but was reared on the family farm in Eros, LA. After graduating Eros High School he attended Louisiana Normal now Northwestern University on a basketball scholarship. He spent most of his life in Monroe/West Monroe, retiring from the Louisiana Department of Education as an Assistant State Superintendent. He truly enjoyed the operation of his construction company over a period of 60 years. His partnership with his lifelong friend Huey Jinks was one beneficial to him and many satisfied customers/friends. Becoming a Christian in his mid-thirties, he was a member of First Baptist Church West Monroe and served as chairman of the Deacons for several years. He dedicated his life to his family, and in particular to his first wife of 46 years, Ardith, his second wife of 11 years, Margie and his two sons and their families. Words are sometimes so futile in describing the love and devotion Don had for his family, but because of his love for the Lord, his life was full and complete. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Don Zeigler, Jr. and Cheryl of West Monroe and Tim Zeigler and Patti of Downsville; step-daughter and husband Dana Bellefontaine and Billy; grandchildren; Trey Zeigler and wife Anna, Deni Zeigler, both of West Monroe, Lance Zeigler of Boulder, CO, Paxton Zeigler, Addison Zeigler, Reed Zeigler, Sydni Zeigler and Colton Zeigler , all of Downsville; step-grandchildren; Danielle Bellefontaine Fazio and husband Frank, William Bellefontaine and wife Laura, and Blake Bellefontaine; great-granddaughter, Reagan Zeigler; sisters, Helen Owen and Janet Albritton Burnett, both of West Monroe; nieces and nephews; Wanda Bennett, Linda Patton, Cindy Wilson, Ken Albritton and Kevin Albritton all of West Monroe. Pallbearers will be Dr. Mike Cage, Dr. David Bryan, Larry Cash, Tommy Wrenn, Gordon James, Wayne Taunton, Noel Hibbard, Kent Jinks, and David May. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to his caregivers, Karen “Kaen” Bartlett, Eve “Ann” Nelson, Troyan Williams, Carol Dykes, Sue Temple, and Pearl Knighten for their untiring and devoted care.
