Don M. BarronDonald Marvin Barron, 85, died on December 12, 2015, at his home in Farmerville. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Farmerville on Wednesday, December 16, at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Bro. Kurt Auger. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15, First Baptist Church of Farmerville.Don was born in Friendship, LA, the youngest of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Barron. His parents, brothers, sisters, and wife, Miriam Gay Taylor Barron, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Diana Barron; his son, Ron Barron and wife Gwen; and daughter, Lynn Barron. He is also survived by grandchildren, Scott and Taylor Barron, as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by step-sons, Michael and Scott Stockle and their families.Don was a decorated Korean Conflict Veteran. In 1962 he established Farmerville Paint and Decorating, which evolved into Don M. Barron Contractor, Inc., a successful and well-respected construction company operating throughout Louisiana. He was active in Northeast Louisiana Associated General Contractors, serving as President for two terms and on several state and national committees. He served on the Louisiana State Contractors Licensing Board, and was also a founder and Chairman of the Board of DArbonne Bank. He was on the Board of Heritage Financial, Premier Bank and First National Bank. He served five terms as an Alderman for the Town of Farmerville, the last two as Mayor Pro Tem. He also was President of the Industrial Development Board of Union Parish and was a founding Board Member of DArbonne Country Club. In 1984, the North Delta Regional Planning & Development agency nominated Don as Louisiana Small Business Person of the Year.Don was an avid pilot who enjoyed travelling. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.Pallbearers will be nephews: Alvin Barron, Edwin Barron, Talton Barron, Larry Gaddis, James Barron, Richard Barron, Barry Barron, and Floyd Walsworth.
