Dolores F. Dozier (née Schuette), of Bernice, Louisiana, formerly of Versailles,
Illinois, died at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Dolores, Laurie to family and friends, was born in Quincy, Illinois, on November
15, 1932, a daughter to Edmund Carl Schuette and Theresa Frances Schimdt Schuette.
Laurie married Roy Dozier of Versailles (Cooperstown) on April 3, 1954.
After finishing high school in Quincy, Laurie worked at Brown’s Drug Store. Upon
marriage, she moved to the farm near Cooperstown where she grew to love the country
and farm life. She raised two girls, Denise and Terry, and she became the ultimate
hostess for relatives visiting the farm over the years. Laurie contributed her baked
goods to the girls’ grade school in Versailles, to family functions, and most recently to
the Bernice Methodist Church’s socials in Bernice where she had attended. Mrs. Dozier
was a cheerleader for her children and her grandchildren. During the last few years,
Laurie delighted in news of her great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff members of Tri-Ward Hospital in Bernice,
Bernice Nursing Home, and Passage Hospice of Monroe for their care, support, and
kindness.
Survivors include Denise Butler (Samuel) of Rockford, Michigan, and Terry
Pelfrey of Bernice, Louisiana, and their children: Nicole Wong (Michael) of Queensland,
Australia; Joffre Butler of Rockford, MI; Elizabeth Pelfrey of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; and
