David William Woods passed away peacefully at his home in Ruston on the morning of April 11, 2022. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 23, 1953, to Audley Wallace Woods and Opal Hill Woods, David grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana as well as Hamburg, Arkansas. He graduated from Hamburg High School and earned a degree in Psychology from University of Arkansas in Monticello. David dedicated his career to serving adults with intellectual disabilities. He also enjoyed researching and collecting antique bottles, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his close friends and family.
David is predeceased by both of his parents and brother, Jerry Wallace Woods. He is survived by his daughters Shawna Chumley (Jonathan) of Ruston and Nicole Shore (Josh) of Shreveport; and three grandchildren, Kylie Galvan, Sky Shore, and Holland Chumley; brother, Larry Wayne Woods (Jackie) of Crossett, Arkansas; along with several nieces and cousins.
A memorial service officiated by David’s cousin, Rev. Randy Rutledge, will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, beginning at 10 AM. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
