It with great sadness that the family of Darlene Kay Barnes announces her passing on May 29 2018, at the age of 64.Funeral services for Darlene Kay Barnes will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the Worship Center of First Baptist Church West Monroe. Rev. Michael Wood will officiate, assisted by Rev. Larry Mudgett. Visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Kevin Barnes and her children Dustin and wife Brittany, Daniel, Derek and wife Donielle, and Meredith Pilcher and husband Ryan. She was known as NeNe to her family and grandchildren Lannah and Lillian Barnes, and Regan and Michael Pilcher; siblings Stan, Barry and Doug Wall. Also surviving is her father, Stan Wall Sr., and mother-in-law, Pauline Antley. Preceding her in death was her mother, Louise Wall, brother, Larry Wall and father-in-law, J.O. Antley.Darlene served her community for 30 years as an educator with the Ouachita Parish School Board. She loved serving her family and friends, and welcomed all. Mom was beautiful and made perfect by her Heavenly Father. Moms favorite quiet time with God was spent walking the beach, collecting shells. She was the absolute best Home Ec teacher! She was kind, caring, thoughtful, and one so much more. She’s very loved and will be sincerely missed. I pray for comfort and understanding for family and friends.

Your mom was a wonderful Godly woman that impacted me as a teacher. I worked for a time at WOHS and she impacted me and the students she taught. I hope I am half the teacher she was. Praying for you. She will be greatly missed.
