Funeral services for Darlene Pierce Bearden will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 16, 2022 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens-Calhoun, LA. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Darlene Pierce Bearden, 88 years of age, of Monroe, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 12th, 2022. She was born March 17th, 1934 in Monroe, and grew up in the Aimoch Community in LaSalle Parish, where she graduated from Jena High School.
Darlene attended Northeast Louisiana Junior College and worked as a secretary at Columbian Carbon and Monroe Telco FCU.However, she spent the majority of her life as a beloved wife and mother, doting on her children and grandchildren. Darlene was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and later First Methodist Church on Loop Road. She was an active member of the weekly prayer group. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing with the Cross Trailers Square Dance Club and later Bayou Valley Dancers. Throughout her life, Darlene had a love of books and reading and was a volunteer for years with the University of Louisiana at Monroe “Friends of the Library” bookstore. A fun fact about Darlene was that she was an avid collector of unique bears. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Howard Pierce and Grace Roark Pierce Ford and her husband, Kermit G. Bearden.
Kermit and Darlene were married for 63 years and are survived by their children: Sherry Dillard (Wesley), Kevin Bearden (Christie), Kimberly Wyble (Gerald), Carol Smith (Matt), Sean Bearden (Emily). Darlene was affectionately known as “Deenie” by her grandchildren: Shannon Dillard Brulte’, Elizabeth Wyble Miller (Jarrod), Emilie Wyble Henderson (Grayson), Ed Wyble (Christina), Nicole Bearden, William Manning, Daniel Manning, Lauren Manning, Bryan Smith (Brooks), Sam Smith, Zach Bearden, and Jake Bearden. In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren: Ian Wesley Brulte’, Lailah Jade Hastings, Rose Grace Miller, Landrie Gray Henderson, and Alec Henry Wyble. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ben and Sally Bearden, and brother-in-law Col. Lawrence Revill and numerous nieces and nephews.
