Funeral services for Dan Edward Darnell born March 24, 1934 will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop William Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe and Thursday from 2:00 PM until service time at the church.
Dan was an active member of the church, where he held many callings. He loved the Lord and his family, neighbors and friends.
Dan held many and varied jobs, from working at the railroad in Natchez, Mississippi, to owning Louisiana Garbage Services, and as a Sheriff’s deputy. He retired as Senior Mechanic in Facilities Management for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dan never met a stranger and was a friend and adviser to all. He was fondly referred to as “The Book of Knowledge.” Dan was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Willie Beatrice Darnell; son Richard Wayne Darnell; sister Helen Faulk; brother Mickey Darnell.
Dan is survived by his wife Gerry Darnell; sons Dan Edward Darnell, Jr. and David Arnold Darnell; mother of his sons Gloria Webb Darnell; step-daughter Lori Kuhn-Hancock and her sons Colin and Conor; granddaughters Chelsey and Corrie; and a great-grandson; sisters Joy Dell Craft and Gloria Jean Barnes; brother Robert Lee Darnell and wife Bernice.
