Funeral services for D. Joann Guice Johnston will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Dan Stansbury will be officiating. Interment will be held at Masonic Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Joann was born July 2, 1941 in Oak Grove, LA and passed away January 10, 2018 in Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and MaryLou Coats; husbands, John H. Guice and James Jimmy Johnston; daughter, Tonia Guice Masters; sisters, Jeanette McGrew, Lucille Russell, Dorothy Self and Wanda Carroll. Joann was a member of Rayville United Pentecostal Church, Rayville, LA.Joann is survived by daughters, Donna Guice McMillan and husband Lamar of Colorado Springs, CO; Pamela R. Guice, Eros, LA, Colinda Guice Glad and husband Dan of Pineville, LA; grandchildren; Heather, Donavan, Ryan, Leanne, Greg, Stefanie, Amber, Erika, Melissa, Staci and Rae Ann; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Vergie Roberson and husband Jerry of Arcadia, LA, Richard Coats and wife Caroline of Stonewall, LA.Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Assocation.Visitation will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comKilpatrick Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA

Sis. Joann was a strong, amazing woman! I grew up adoring her. She taught me so much just about life and living it. I'll never forget the time that we took a trip to Six Flags when I was a teenager and her car was stolen. We were all so concerned and freaked out over it and she was just as calm as could be. I asked her how she can be so calm about everything. Her reply to me was this: "It's a thing. Things can be replaced. When you've lost people you love, things mean nothing. Never forget that." And I never have forgotten. I know Sis. Joann is up there kickin' up gold dust! May she bask in Heaven's light as we miss her dearly here on earth!
