Funeral services for Conley R. Austin, 90, of West Monroe will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. Kevin Stewart and Rev. Bruce Austin will officiate. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Conley R. Austin was born November 4, 1922 in Winn Parish, LA and passed away August 25, 2013 in West Monroe. He served America proudly first in the CCC camps and then in the U. S. Army in World War as a medic in Burma. Conley retired from Ouachita Cigar & Tobacco Company in 1973 after 36 years. He was an active member of McClendon Baptist Church and for many years he sang tenor in the church choir at Fair Park Baptist Church. Conley was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. Conley is survived by his wife, Beatrice Moore Austin; sons, Bruce K. Austin and wife Diana and Alan Al Austin and wife Ingrid; grandchildren, Jennifer Austin Bettis and husband Hal Bettis, Jr.; Seth Mickel Austin and wife Lara; Jacob Alan Austin and wife Stacy; Angela Austin Barrett and husband Jeremy; and ten great-grandchildren; his step-mother, Marie Austin of Oak Grove; sister, Carolyn Holland; brothers, Norvin Austin and Mike Austin. Pallbearers will be Seth Austin, Jacob Austin, Jeremy Barrett, Roy Arthur, Hal Bettis, Jr. and Fred Autrey. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
