Funeral services for Claude F. Rice, Sr., 90, of Monroe, are Tuesday morning at 10:00AM in the Christian Life Church of Monroe with Rev. Danny Chance officiating. Interment follows in Roselawn Memorial Gardens of Calhoun under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Born November 14th, 1920, in Bossier Parish, LA, he passed away Sunday, August 28th, 2011, in Monroe. Mr. Rice was a retired miner and truck driver and was a long-time member of the Christian Life Church of Monroe. He was also a US Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Virgie in 2005 and one brother and four sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Inez Boland; six sons, Lloyd Rice and wife Nita, Claude Rice, Jr., Vernon Rice and wife Brenda, LeRoy Rice and wife Judi, Edward Rice and wife Debra, and Johnny Rice and Tabatha; two brothers, James Rice and wife Helen, and Travis Rice; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Tracy Fleming, Eric Little, Chris Rice, Daniel Rice, Kenneth Boland, and J. R. Hale.
