Charlie was not known as a man who would make long speeches but when he did say something, it was worth listening to because of the way he was able to cut through the minutia. During his tenure at the Ruston Police Department, he had a positive influence on many people who worked with him, me included. When I reached the rank of captain, I noticed that I had gained a certain type of knowledge from each captain that I had worked under. Charlie’s influence on me was easily recognizable in the way I approached certain aspects of the job and it made some difficult tasks seem effortless. I will always be grateful to him and cherish the fact that I was able to tell him so during one of our chats at the end of his driveway. I wish to give my sincere heartfelt condolences to his family. Charlie loved you very much and he will be missed.

Charle Mac was one of my favorite supervisors when I was a "rookie". I remember shift changes and Charle Mac would talk kind of fast and I really didn't know what he was saying. All I knew I needed to get it right and I hoped I did. He was always willing to help the new guy and was in charge at any scene. Great memories and probably partly responsible for me continuing law enforcement for 27 years. I will miss him.

One of the first officers I rode with in my first few months at Ruston Police was Charlie Mac. He showed me how to police at a time when the methods of policing were changing. Charlie Mac was "old school" in some respects, but smart enough to embrace the newer methods of police patrol. He taught me how to use discretion in those early years. He and Donna also fed me numerous times on the nights that I got to train with Charlie Mac. He was a great law officer and a great family man. It's a shame that there aren't more like him now. If you went into a "situation" with him, you always knew that everything would be okay. He will be missed by his family and equally missed by his other family-the law enforcement family. My most heartfelt condolences to Donna, Lisa, Michelle, and extended family.
