Charles Charlie Earl Beck, Sr. came into this world kicking and laughing on April 14, 1945. He was born to happy parents, Guy Lee and LaRose Beck, who were so excited to finally give birth to a baby boy after having three girls.He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the morning of June 29^th. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years July 8, 1967, Jan Dale Beck, his three children: Charles Chuck (Loydena) Beck, Rosanna (Brandon) Blair, and Lee Beck. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Beck, and brother, George (Deris) Beck; sisters-in-law: Peggy Joy (James Russell) Dumas and June (Mike) Harrison; five grandchildren: Albanie, Katie, Chandler, Allison, and Andrew Drew, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, sisters Donis Beck Barnes and Myrtle Rose Beck, and brother-in-law John Howard Barnes.Charlie and Jan were not only partners in life but also often partners in business. They owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Mt. Olive, Mississippi and later a Union 76 service station aka Beck Four Way Truck Stop in Prentiss, Mississippi. Charlie also worked for Shell Oil Company while he and Jan lived in Florida.After moving their family to Ruston, Louisiana, Charlie worked for Stinson Industries, X-Chem, Oil-Flo Chemical, and more recently, Walkmar Chemical.Charlie served his country with pride enlisting and serving over six years in the Mississippi National Guard. He also served his community and was President of the Rotary Club in Prentiss where he directed the completion of many community projects.He was a man of strong faith serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon in the Mt. Olive and Prentiss, Mississippi Baptist Churches, and was a Sunday School Director in Prentiss. He loved music and was a member of the church choir. He was a maestro on the harmonica. Blues, bluegrass or country, it didnt matter. Out came the harmonica and he could play for hours. No doubt, he is singing and playing right now with his mom and sis in heaven glorious band. Charlie was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston.Charlie was a big teddy bear with a heart as big as all outdoors. He loved and enjoyed life whether it was with his brother George and their Mississippi buddies; having coffee and pretending to work out with his Temple Baptist Men Group; he and Jan traveling around the wild west with his sis, Bobbi and Lucy; riding any train he could find; tailgating at Mississippi State where his three children graduated from; fishing on the Ouachita; attending various programs, baseball games, beauty pageants and graduations with his grandchildren or just Pops and Nana spending time around the swimming pool and cooking on the Que with family. Charlie loved his family and cherished every minute God gave him with them. He will be missed more than words can say.Services will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Temple Baptist Church Chapel in Ruston, Louisiana. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 AM.
