On Sunday, October 18th, Charles “Dewane” Wilson passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at the age of 85. Graveside services are Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant, LA. Rev. Dwayne Monk will officiate under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church prior to services.
A native of the Crossett Arkansas, Dewane came from a loving family with four brothers, one sister and, as he said, “a mother who never ceased praying for him”. From a State Farm Agent to a rough neck on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, he held many positions throughout his life. None of which he applied for; all of them were offered to him on his reputation alone. He had a loving and charismatic personality that brought joy to anyone around him. He never met a stranger and was not afraid to make friends with any one at any time.
Dewane is leaving behind a loving wife, Carolyn Wilson, who has shared many adventures in their travels across the United States and has been his rock throughout his battle with cancer. Reluctantly, he is also leaving behind one of his best friends, Dax Dowling, who revived his love for his favorite job of all, being a PawPaw.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as, a brother, sister, wonderful nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two of his beloved brothers.
Pallbearers are Wesley Harris, Leslie Towns, Danon Dowling, Benji Dowling, Brendon Crow and Craig Dickerson.
The family is requesting that all wear a mask.
