Charlie was born March 9, 1955 in Newellton, Louisiana and passed away January 3, 2022 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was a very caring and compassionate person. Charlie was hard working and juggled many multi-faceted big projects, always completing them and then moving on. He always did what needed to be done. Charlie was very loving to his family. He was competitive and always wanted to do his best. Charlie built and raced his own motorcycles. At one time, he held the world record in Pro-Mod Motorcycle Drag Racing, and with his brother, Matt, they held the top 2 spots in some races. They raced competitively, but in brotherhood. Charlie would offer help to anyone in need. He even helped his motorcycle racing competitors to resolve their own issues. When Charlie put his mind to things he was totally committed and dedicated. Charlie was well-respected as a master plumber, known as “the best” to many because of his work ethic, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness. As a young man, Charlie was an expert barefoot water skier and loved being on the river. Charlie will be greatly missed by many, and especially by all those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Gaspard Bruce and Harry G. Prophit III; brother, David Prophit.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Virginia Smith Prophit; daughters, Breanna Young and husband Orum and Heather Darden and husband Dolph; step-sons, Trey Patton and Kenny Patton; step-daughter, Angela Patton; 10 grandchildren, Renée Young, Elijah Young, Hazel Young, William Young, Audrey Young, Wallace Young, Henry Young, Landon Darden, Luke Darden and Landry Darden; brothers, Harry Prophit and wife Alice, Russ Prophit and wife Kathy and Matt Prophit and wife Debbie; many other cherished family and friends.
