Services for Charlene Hughes Murphy, 72, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Cypress Baptist Church of West Monroe, LA, with Bro. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment to follow at Cypress Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. She was born on July 23, 1933 in Gilmer, TX and left this life on June 18, 2006 in West Monroe, LA surrounded by her loved ones. Affectionately known as Momma, Maw and Maw Murphy, she left a legacy of love and devotion to those she knew and loved. Momma loved her lord and served him faithfully at Cypress Baptist Church where she was very active until her illness struck in October, 2002. She was a true testament to faith, hard work and trust in the lord. As Daddy says ¨Her hands were never lazy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Lambert Owen, father, Luther Emery Hughes, grandson, Kolton Murphy Minchew, step-father, Jim Owen and step-mother, Virginia Hughes. Left to honor her memory are her husband and the love of her life for 54 years, Bobby Murphy, Sr., daughters, Sherry White, Janie Murphy and Susanne, Sandy Minchew and husband Clint; sons, Bobby Murphy, Jr. and wife Debra, David Murphy and wife Debi, Mickey Murphy and wife Adonna and her special great grandson Kendall Cotita whom she raised and everyone knew was ¨her boy; 14 grandchildren, Jonna Scott, Jessica Harris, Noah White, Shannon Murphy and fianc© Crystal, Lindsay Murphy, Cody Murphy and wife Candace, Christy Murphy, Adam Murphy and wife Chella, Abby Murphy, Katelyn Minchew, Klinton Minchew, Damon Walker, Mia Tisdale and Justin Tisdale; 8 great grandchildren, Lauren Cotita, Cole Becton, Justin Scott, Nathan Evans, Makayla Murphy, Gabriel Harris, Jackson Meyers, and Zoie Tisdale; brothers, James Hughes and wife Arlene, Billy Hughes and wife Geraldine; sister, Vivian Bass and husband Robert, half brother, Larry Hughes and wife Joy and sisters in law, Merle Allen and Victoria Wyatt. Momma spent over twenty years on bowling teams, loved her bowling and loved her ¨bowling buddies. Special thanks to all Momma≠s friends who sat with her and comforted her. She loved you dearly. Pallbearers are the Deacons from Cypress Baptist Church: Tom Owens, Laron Owens, Edgar Wink, Steve Owens, Don McGrew, and Gary Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are Dwight Owens, Roy McCandlish and Bonard Peeler. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Cypress Baptist Church.
