Mr. Cecil Rogers Funeral services for Cecil F Red Rogers, 87, of Bernice, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 9, at Evergreen Baptist Church in Bernice, Louisiana with Bro. Wayne Sistrunk and Dr. Harvey Hoffman officiating. Intermit will follow at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.Cecil Red was born on February 7, 1928 in Union Parish and went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2015 in Farmerville, Louisiana following a brief illness.Red was a Godly husband and father, dedicated to his family, friends and church. He was a deacon at Evergreen Baptist Church and formerly at Calvary Baptist Church of Monroe where he faithfully served his church and community. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting, fishing and farming. Many family and friends enjoyed the fruits of his labor from that large garden each year, freely giving to others. He was a retired electrician and member of the IBEW Local 446 since 1948. He was known for his generosity, hard work and great sense of humor. He was always forgiving, showing a Christ-like attitude. This was Red life.He is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Rogers Johnson, and grandsons Mason Gregory Rogers and David Russell Pilgreen; Parents, Sam Rogers and Lola Smith Rogers of Bernice; Brothers; Elton Rogers, Elvis Rogers, Bob Rogers, and William Dub Rogers; Sisters: Madrid Mack Rogers Smith, and Helen Rogers Malone.Survivors includes his wife of 68 years, Billie Evelyn Walker Rogers, one daughter: Helene Rogers Pilgreen of Calhoun, (Ervin); three sons: Ronnie Rogers of West Monroe (Debbie), Dennis E. Rogers of Bernice(Rose), Gregory A. Rogers of Cleveland, TX (Laurie). Ten grandchildren: Nathaniel Pilgreen, Crystal Thompson Davis, Clint Thompson, Kandi Rogers Nolan, Allan Pilgreen, Terri Pilgreen Rogers, Haley Rogers, Collin Rogers, Cortney Rogers, Britney Rogers. Great grandchildren: Ashley Pilgreen Green, Caleb Thompson, Connor Davis, Clara Davis, Joseph Davis, Chris Nolan, Kalie Nolan, Hallie Rogers, Kathryn Rogers.
