Cecil Fay Gilmore, 95, was born June 21, 1926, in Bastrop, Louisiana, and passed away on September 28, 2021, at his home in Ruston, Louisiana. Known to family and friends as “Buddy”, he worked for Atmos Energy in the Customer Service Department. After retiring, he was passionate about his family, his cooking, his artwork, and especially his hunting! Buddy was an active member of First Baptist Church in Calhoun.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Glennie and Nick Gilmore and his sister, Virginia Gilmore Stansbury. He is survived by his wife, Leah McGruder Gilmore; his sons, Danny (Peggy) Gilmore of Ruston, Louisiana, and David (Michele) Gilmore of Hickory Creek, Texas. Grandchildren; Jared (Kristin) Gilmore, Meghan Gilmore Black (Jason), Cameron (Hilary) Gilmore, Sean Gilmore, Allison Gilmore and Eric Gilmore. He was also greatly blessed with 9 great grandchildren.
The family gives special thanks for the loving care of Buddy’s sitters over the years, especially Eudell Vines.
Funeral services for Cecil “Buddy” Gilmore will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Calhoun on Hwy 80 West. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun.
Pallbearers will be; Danny Gilmore, David Gilmore, Jared Gilmore, Cameron Gilmore, James McGruder and Eric Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Faith Sunday School Class.
