Mrs. Cecelia Richter Mercer Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Mrs. Cecelia Richter Mercer was born on January 31, 1922 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and went to be with her Savior & Lord Jesus Christ on May 19, 2013 in Ruston, Louisiana. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Dubach, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Dubach officiated by Rev. Paul Watts and assisted by Rev. Barry Joyner. Mrs. Mercer was the mother of Carla Mercer Watts and her husband Henry, Cheryl “Bitsy” Mercer Martin and her husband Ken, and daughter-in-law Paula Mercer. She had seven grandchildren, Kimberly Watts Robison, Paul Watts, Rebecca Watts, Kyle Martin, Lacey Martin Heard, Adam Mercer, and Luke Mercer. She had seven great-grandchildren, Abbie Robison, Emma Robison, Annelise Robison, Ethan Robison, Titus Watts, Lydia Watts, and Lucas Watts and sister-in-law: Wilma Mercer McKinnie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Floyd Mercer; her parents; two sisters, Lurena Feltnor and Mary Langrell; and two sons, Robert S. “Butch” Mercer and Thomas R. “Buddy” Mercer. Mrs. Mercer loved her family and was always glad to receive them into her home. She loved sharing pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Mrs. Mercer loved her church family at First Baptist Church, Dubach where she was a faithful member. Before her retirement, she taught preschool Sunday school and loved all of the children who passed through her class. She rejoiced with each family as these children came to know the Lord. Mrs. Mercer attended school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and continued her education by attending business school. During World War II, she worked in the arsenal in Pine Bluff supporting the war effort. After the war, she met and married Floyd Mercer. She followed him in his job all over Arkansas and later to Texas and on to Louisiana where they resided in Dubach for almost 46 years. For many years she worked as secretary for Arkansas Oak Flooring and in later years as secretary at Dubach Finance. After her retirement, she took piano lessons and painting lessons. Her children and grandchildren enjoy the special artwork that she presented to them over the years.
