Mrs. Carol Jean Phelps Slade, passed away on March 14, 2017, in Shreveport, LA following a lengthy illness. She was born September 3, 1927, in Farmerville, LA, and was a resident of Shreveport for more than fifty years.Mrs. Slade graduated from Farmerville High School and Bish Mathis Institute, Inc. in Monroe. She began her career in banking and retired from Ford Motor Credit after thirty years of service. She was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clara Williams Phelps and Sam Phelps, and by her husband, Ellis Slade. Mrs. Slade is survived by longtime special friend and caregiver, H. Cleve Taylor of Shreveport, LA, her brother, Charles F. Phelps of Spring, TX, and niece, Laura Moreno of Bryan, TX.Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Farmerville, LA, with visitation held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Officiating will be Dr. Chuck McInturf, pastor of Woodridge Baptist Church.
