Carleen Reeves, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend passed away peacefully at home into the loving arms of Jesus, 11:35 am December 11, 2024. She was 90 years young.
Carleen was born and raised in Pioneer, LA as an only child to Bess and Sybil Griffin. She attended Pioneer High School where she played basketball and volleyball. She continued her schooling at Northeast Louisiana College (now ULM) where she graduated with a major in Elementary Education. She went on to teach first and second grade for over 25 years.
Carleen lived a full life filled with beauty from her gardens which overflowed with flowers in a home that she cherished for 42 years. For 64 years, she shared her home with the love of her life, Johnny Reeves, creating a legacy of love and family. Together, they raised two daughters, Johnette and Tina. Tina blessed them with three grandchildren who were the lights of Carleen’s life. Her other bright light was the love from her eldest daughter Johnette. She has been a constant, with abundant laughter and unwavering devotion for her mother.
Beyond her family, Carleen cultivated many loving friendships, often meeting those friends at Not Just Pie or Kayla’s Kitchen for birthdays or just catching up. She also loved meeting them at ballgames to support her alma mater ULM.
Carleen also loved supporting the Miss Louisiana Scholarship Organization where she and Johnny have been patrons for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Monroe Garden Club and Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of First United Methodist Church, West Monroe.
