Carl R. Odom, 90, of West Monroe, quietly passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. Carl was born in Farmerville, La. on December 29, 1930. He was known by his family and close friends as “Radford”. He served in the National Guard during his early adult years. Carl was employed by United Gas Pipeline and Louisiana Gas Company during his entire career. Upon retirement at 55, he enjoyed gardening, tinkering with his electronic projects and either building or remodeling homes. Carl was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Farmerville and later became a member of the Claiborne Church of Christ in West Monroe.
Carl is survived by his children: Randy K. Odom of Walker, LA, Carla O. Meyers of Baton Rouge, LA, Janis O. Pruett of West Monroe, Gary R. Odom and wife, Linda, of San Antonio, TX and Sandra O. Guice and husband, Sammy, of West Monroe, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, a sister in-law and his loyal companion dog, Booger.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary D.Odom; his parents, Sherman and Ola Odom; his sisters, Lila O. Dean, Clarice O. Durham and Ivelle O. Elliott; and one grandson, Chris Odom.
Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA on Monday, January 18th at 1:00 PM. A graveside service for family members will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, West Monroe, LA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to your favorite charity or church. His family would like to give special thanks to his attending Physicians and Glenwood ICU staff for their care, love and support.
