Funeral services for Calvin Gulett 79 of West Monroe will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Ridge Avenue Baptist with Bro. Jim Wolfe officiating. Interment will be held at Long Straw Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Calvin was born August 19, 1938 in Choudrant, LA and passed away October 19, 2017 in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Gulett, Jr. and was a retired truck driver with Yellow Truck Lines and a member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church. Calvin loved to play golf, bowl and was a Shriner.Calvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cora Lee Gulett; 3 children; Julie Straight and husband Ed, Donna Burruel, Gary Gulett and wife Virginia; sister; Sharon Sexton and husband Donnie; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comWest Monroe, LA

Cora Lee, This is a voice from the past. Beth and I just learned of Calvin's death, today. We are so very sorry and you have our empathy. Calvin and I spent many hours shooting pool in downtown Monroe somewhere upstairs just off DeSaird Street. I was working at the paper mill for Olinkraft at the time and we were attending McClendon Baptist Church. Beth and I also remember you losing Calvin, Jr. at this same time of year. Again we are so very sorry for you. Your friends from long ago, Marie Elizabeth "Beth" McNeil and Clarence White, Jr.
