Funeral services for Chester Lewis “C.L.” Hough Jr. will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday March 24, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Rev. Jerry Salisbury officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
C.L. was born August 9, 1934 in Isola, Mississippi to Chester and Climmie Hough. He grew up in Pioneer, Louisiana where he would graduate high school, then served a peacetime tour in the Army, before ultimately working at Southern Graphics for over 40 years until he retired in 2002.
C.L. met Betty Francis Glover at a cake walk in Oak Grove, Louisiana after returning home from the Army. He said that the moment he saw her, he knew he was going to marry her. Six weeks later, they were married and had a happy and full 55 years together before her passing in 2012.
They loved taking vacations across the country and spending weekends at Lake D’Arbonne and Lake Claiborne with family and friends. Those vacations would be filled with lots of laughter, food, fun, adventures and, of course, a ton of photos were taken.
C.L. was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, papaw, co-worker, and friend. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren with everything in his being. He took the role of Papaw very seriously and spoiled each generation more than the previous one, they were his pride and joy. Nothing was more important to him than the family that he made.
C.L. was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Francis Glover Hough, son, Kevin D. Hough; parents, Chester and Climmie Patterson Hough; brother, Roy Lee Hough; sisters, Zelda Ruth Duboise, Estelle Hough, Ethel Phillips, Bonnie Walker and Annette O’Mary; In laws: Charles and Lois Glover, Charles Martin, Bill and Joan Boutwell, Aubrey and Verdell Glover, Charles Gene Glover, L.D. Duboise, Doug Phillips, Bruce Walker, and Herbert O’Mary.
C.L. is survived by his daughters Michelle Hough Gathright and Indi Wildwood, sister, Sonja Tackett (Earl); sisters-in-law Evie Martin and Edna Glover; grandchildren Jason Henry (Lindsey), Diana Lindsay (Daniel), Kris Camargo, Summer Hyatt, Sarah Brown (Josh), and Rachael Camargo. He’s also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way and two great-great grandchildren. Also left to cherish their Uncle C.L.’s memory are numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Henry, Michael Henry, Rickey Tackett, Mitchell Tackett, Mark Walker and Josh Brown, Jr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hubbard and Premier Hospice, especially Morgan, Robert and Mrs. Ella for their dedication and loving care of C.L. over the past few months.
