Byron McKinstry, Jr. was born November 5, 1944 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and passed away January 30, 2021 in Ruston, LA.
Byron retired from Smurfit Store in Hodge as a manager and served proudly as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army during Vietnam War. He always enjoyed his time hunting, fishing or just being outdoors. He spent many months in the upper peninsula of Michigan with his trusty sidekicks Casey & Tucker. Byron was preceded in death by his wife Christina H. McKinstry; his parents, Byron Herbert McKinstry, Sr. and Pauline Marker McKinstry; brothers, James “Jim” McKinstry and Michael “Mike” McKinstry.
Byron is survived by his brother, Karl McKinstry and wife Jill; niece, Elizabeth Passmonte and husband Joe; nephews, Mark McKinstry and wife Heather and Matthew McKinstry and wife Adelle; 7 great nieces and nephews; 10 grand nieces and nephews; step-children Stephanie Haye and husband Chris and David Humphries and wife Caroline; and 3 step-grandsons; sisters-in-law Mervia Walters, Bea and husband Don Thornton.
Bryon’s request was to be cremated and his remains to be scattered among some of his favorite outdoor sites he enjoyed most. No services are announced at this time.
