Mr. Boyd B.L. Spillers Kilpatrick Funeral Home Funeral services for Mr. Boyd B.L. Spillers, 83, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Rev. David Maxwell officiating, and assisted by Rev. Calton Yeager. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe. Mr. Spillers was born July 17, 1923 in Calhoun and passed away May 5, 2007 in West Monroe, LA. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School and attended business school. He was retired from Louisiana Power and Light Company with 32 years of service. He was an army veteran of WWII as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church, served as a deacon, member of Fellowship Sunday School Class, and a member of Rock of Ages Senior Adult Choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his friends playing Mexican train. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Ida Spillers; sisters, Evelyn, Erea and Dollie; brothers, Jim, Bud, Dock, Wesley, Leon and Howard. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife and soul mate of 60 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Carolyn Newman of West Monroe and Pat Williams and husband Alton of Calhoun, La.; granddaughter, Cherie Robertson and husband Rick of Baton Rouge, La.; grandsons, Chris Newman and wife Bonnie of White Oak, Tx. and Rick Williams and wife Heather of Calhoun, La.; great granddaughter, Caroline Robertson; great grandsons, Christian Newman and Wilson Williams; step great grandchildren, Chase Osborn, Christina Ladner, Cory Robertson and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sonny Bumgardner, Malcolm Austin, Henry Chriceol, Bobby Wheelis, Benson Hennen, Tommy Comeaux, David Herring and Taylor Sawyer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Percy Nicholls, deacons of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church, LP&L retirees and Charles Holstead all members of the Fellowship Sunday School class. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday May 7, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, La. Memorials may be made to Ridge Avenue Baptist Church ¨ I Love My Church fund.
