Bobby R. Thurmon, 83, of Monroe, LA, went to his heavenly home on November 25, 2013. He was born in Summerfield, LA on October 18, 1930. A Visitation will be held on November 29, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the chapel of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 1:00 PM, led by Bro. Chester King. Burial will follow the services at Hebron Baptist Church cemetery in Summerfield, LA officiated by Bro. Kenneth Nutt, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Ken Thurmon, his brothers, Charles and Ford Thurmon, and his parents, William Ray Thurmon and Sybil Green Thurmon. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nelda Thurmon; his children, Troy Thurmon and wife, Jan, Tom Thurmon and wife, Debbie, Sylvia Oden and husband, Jeff, Lora Clark and husband, Jeff; his grandchildren, Houston Steelman and wife Jenny, Mallory Oden, Sarah Thurmon, Ryan Thurmon, Walker Thurmon, and Sam Oden. Pallbearers will be Sam Oden, Walker Thurmon, Ryan Thurmon, Houston Steelman, Jeff Oden and Jeff Clark. Bobby was an Engineering Specialist retired from the LA Dept. Of Transportation and Development. He enjoyed woodworking, auto repairs, and tinkering in his shop. He proudly served our great nation in the US Airforce during the Korean Conflict. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and family. A very special heartfelt thank you to Dad's caregivers, Gwen and Angelica Williams, Erlean Nickles and Chester King for their compassionate love and care shown to our family.
