Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Gene Smith, 75, of Monroe will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Monroe with Dr. Aristoteles A. Pena-Miches officiating and presiding with interment following at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Smith was born on October 19, 1937 in Franklin Parish and passed away on June 9, 2013 in Monroe, La. Mr. Smith served in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was retired from the LA DOTD after thirty three years of Service. Mr. Smith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he had served in several capacities. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Benson Smith; his parents, Avery and Lillie M. Smith; three brothers, James H. Smith, Everett R. Smith and Avery Eugene Smith; and sister, Marie Wallace. He is survived by three sons: Timothy R. Smith and wife, Lara of Bernice, LA, Michael S. Smith and wife, Kelly of Calhoun, LA and Mark E. Smith and wife, Brandy of Monroe, LA; daughter: Sharon Cox and husband, Randy of West Monroe; seven grandchildren: Kendal, Kristin, Chandler, Amber, Abby, Dalton, and Benson and two great-grandchildren: Kaylie and Mikayla. He is also survived by one sister: Mrs. Frances Gregory of Columbia, LA; and many caring nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Chuck Mock, Ray Skerlong, Wayne Mizell, Anthony Emerson, Bill Ober, Joe Holladay and Randy Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Hathcock and Paul Tolbird. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM, Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
