Funeral services for Bobby Cody Hawthorne of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Pentecostals of the Twin Cities with Pastor Jason Ramsey and Bishop Mark Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery, Clarks, LA. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until service time at the church.
Bobby was born May 3, 1934 in Clarks, LA and passed away January 11, 2021 in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Pearl Cody; sisters Marjorie Caldwell and husband Jeff, Mildred Parker and husband Tom; brother Melvin Cody and wife Dorothy.
All her life, Bobby was known for her signature coconut pound cake and you would often times find her making a meal, cake, or sour dough bread for those who were in need or had lost a loved one. Her love for cooking was never ending. She loved to scout out new recipes and try them out. It wasn’t unusual when she donated cakes for church fundraisers that they were purchased before she even walked in the door! Bobby was also an accomplished business professional. Unlike many of her generation, she established her career prior to marriage. She graduated from Louisiana Business College with a degree in accounting. This led to a 35 year career in banking, including breaking barriers by becoming a Vice President at People’s Homestead. After retiring from banking, Bobby became a home health aide for 8 years where once again she gave back to others by helping families care for their loved ones at home.
Bobby is survived by her son Andrew Hawthorne; daughter Charla Hawthorne; numerous nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.
Pallbearers will be Doug Caldwell, Scott Caldwell, David Caldwell, Stephen Parker, Gary Gaskins and Melvin Cody III.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Cody, Melvin Cody Jr. and ushers from the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities
With the ongoing pandemic masks and social distancing will be mandatory for visitation and services.
