Funeral services for Bobbie Ruth Finley Downs, 91, of West Monroe will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Luna Assembly of God . Rev. Eugene Brown, Rev. Butch Pilcher and Rev. Joel Brackett will officiate. Interment will follow at Luna Assembly of God Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.Bobbie was born October 17, 1927 in Winn Parish, Louisiana and passed away October 15, 2019 in West Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James E. Downs; brothers, Sonny Finley and Daryl Finley; sister, Margie Finley; daughters, Dianne Hattaway, Marilyn Kathleen Hill, Patricia Lynn Smith and Joanie Stafford; grandson, Gregory Hattaway and great-grandson, Myles Hill. Unconditional love was the theme of her life. She never exhibited prejudice toward anyone and taught that kind of love to her daughters. She enjoyed the ministry with her husband of 69 years, and was a prayer warrior. Her daily prayers were fervent, in fact she demonstrated a calling to intercessory prayer. She called her seven daughters her little flowers and tended them with commitment and constant loving care. She loved growing a rose garden, and vegetables (in early years), and used this love for flowers in decorating her home seasonally. As she grew older, her desire to minister led her to often send cards with inspired notes of encouragement to pastors and others. She kept a room in her home as her ministry room where she created special gifts. During her recent illness she was patient and loving to everyone. She became known for her loving attitude to all who tended her. Nurses and staff of Louisiana Hospice deserve thanks for her care. We give special thanks to Nita Cooper for her loving care to our mother.Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Joyce Foster (Ted), Peggy Dunn (John) and Frances Kaye South; brother, James Jay Finley (Frances); sister, Dale Hatten (Courtney); 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Shane Foster, David Dunn, Chris Hill, Patrick Brandon, Phillip Smith and Isaiah Stafford.Honorary pallbearers will be James Jay Finley, Rev.
