Memorial services for Billy Hendrix, 79, of Calhoun will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Calhoun, LA with Rev. Neil Everett officiating, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe
Billy was born February 23, 1942 in Jennie, Arkansas and passed away July 4, 2021 in Calhoun, following a 30 year battle with cancer.
Billy graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in 1966. After graduation, he went on to a long career with the State of Louisiana, eventually retiring as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. He received numerous awards for “Job well done” during his 27-year tenure as a basketball referee with Louisiana Independent School System. Billy was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe and currently was attending First Baptist Church-Calhoun. Billy will be remembered as being a good stewart to God’s land. He had a love of animals and enjoyed gardening and most of all visiting with friends and family.
Folks have called him: genuine, a good Christian, a leader, a loving husband, and one who liked to communicate with ALL in the community. Billy was also an avid reader of the Bible and various other books from the local library.
Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, E.M. Hendrix, Carl “Doc” Hendrix Jr., and Doyle Hendrix; sister, Lorice Johnson, Emma Gray Hallman, Ann Weaks and Wanda Fay Hendrix, daughter-in-law, Cindy Hendrix.
Billy is survived by his wife, Mary Hendrix; son, Paul Hendrix; granddaughters, Lauren and Miranda; grandson, Trey; 2 brothers, Scotty Hendrix and John Martin Hendrix; step-children; Brian Crump and wife Tracy and Angela Crump Kidner; 3 step-grandchildren, Blake Kidner, Scott Lenard and Sarah Lenard; 2 step great grandchildren, Hudson Lenard and Stella Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Lee at M.D. Anderson for extending Billy’s life by 30 years after he was diagnosed with cancer, and all the other doctors at M.D. Anderson, and his local doctors in Monroe and West Monroe that played a part in Billy’s health.
