Billy F. Kay Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Funeral services for Mr. Billy F. Kay, 77 of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Farmerville, with Rev. Kurt Auger and Rev. Ronnie Parks officiating. Interment will follow with Masonic Rites at Henry Cemetery in Hico, Louisiana under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. He passed away at Grace Home Hospice in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 25, 2013. Billy was born on July 25, 1935. He graduated from Hico High School, then earned a B.S. in Education from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters Degree plus 30 from Northeast Louisiana University. He began his career in education in 1959 with West Carroll Parish School Board where he was a teacher and a coach at Forest High School, Principal at Goodwill Jr. High School and served as Superintendent until his retirement in December, 1988. After his retirement, he and his wife Jean moved to Farmerville and built a retirement home on Lake D'Arbonne. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was an active member of Northeast La. Retired Superintendents Association. He and Jean enjoyed hosting an annual fish fry for the members at their home. As an active member of First Baptist Church he was a teacher of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday school class. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean Farrar Kay, children, Cindy Hampton and husband Bruce, Sara Wilhite and husband Kenneth, and son Billy David Kay, grandchildren, Drew Hampton and wife Chelsea, Judith Hampton, Andy Wilhite, Aaron Wilhite, Austin Kay, Todd Kay and McKennie Kay, and one great-granddaughter, Emoree Hampton, sister, Bobbie Miears, brother Roland Kay and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Willie Mae Kay and brother, Clyde Kay. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Drew Hampton, Andy Wilhite, Aaron Wilhite, Austin Kay, future grandson-in-law, Chris Kozik and nephew Mark Kay. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Adult Men's Class at First Baptist Church and members of the Northeast La. Retirement Superintendents Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christus Schumpert Community Hospice and Grace Home at One Saint Mary Place, Shreveport, LA. 71101. In memory of Billy F. Kay, David Wesley Yelvington lit a candle

Mr. Kay was a great man and great friend of our family. So sorry of just learning of his passing. He was our neighbor in West Carrol Parish. Would love to reconnect with Billy Sara and Cindy. We moved to Memphis in 1973. Miss the Kay’s. Love forever, David and Cathy Yelvington.

I am sorry to read of Mr. Kay's passing. I always thought he was very professional and so good to us students at Forest High School. He was so caring and kind. My prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time.

Dear Jean, Cindy, Sara, and David, I recently referred to Mr. Kay in a facebook message remembering how he helped me when T.W. died and I wanted to quit teaching. He kept my resignation on his desk and told me to take all the time I needed and then decide because he thought I needed those kids as much as they needed me. He was right and I loved him for the insight and perspective that day. He was a great educator and I respected him for his ability to lead. He has won his place in Heaven. You are all in my prayers. I love you and miss you.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Kay. He was such a wonderful man that I really enjoyed seeing and visiting with at the Cedar Creek games. He will be missed very much. I am praying that you will feel God's comfort during this time. Jack Thigpen

I was so sorry to read about Mr. Kay's passing. I remember him so vividly as my superintendent when I was a young, new teacher. His professionalism was held in such high regard. He was a fine man and I know the family is comforted by his strong Christian legacy. I will hold you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Jean, it is with real sadness that we learn of Billy's death. He will be greatly missed at our class reunions. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

jean, Patsy and I send to you and family our sincerest sympathy. Billy and I had been freinds since we competed against each other in high school basketball. He was a true gentleman in every way. Several of the retired Supts. plan to attend the funeral on Thursday so sorry!!!Jap and Patsy Gullatt.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this sad time. When I think about my early Years, Billy was always a part of my school Memories.
