With profound love, deep sorrow, and a heart full of gratitude to God for her remarkable life, we announce the passing of Betty Fay Peck Sears, who peacefully entered her eternal rest on January 25, 2025 at the age of 71. Born on December 22, 1953, in Monroe, Louisiana, Betty was the cherished daughter of Vivian Louise Rogers Peck Blocker and Golden Augusta Peck.
Miss Betty was a dedicated church member at the Apostolic Church of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. She was an armor bearer and dedicated prayer warrior! Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and her commitment to serving others was the foundation of her life. She set an example for all who knew her.
Known for her loyalty, humor, and ability to bring joy to any situation, Betty was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, or friend. She was a beacon of love and light. Her family and friends often called her “Mama Beezy,” a nickname that captured her nurturing spirit and fun-loving personality. Betty had a special talent for making life’s moments unforgettable, whether through her laughter, her creative crafting, or her heartfelt acts of kindness.
Betty’s greatest joy in life was living for GOD. She had great admiration, love, and support for her Pastor and Pastor’s wife, Rev. and Sis. David Mixon. She lovingly raised her five children, Selena Self DeHart, Lil Sanford Self II, Deondra Self, Felicia Self Rivera-Roacha, and John Traver Self. She opened her heart and home to many more. Those who became her extended family include Luis Padron, Amber Self, Riley Jr. Wilson, Kimberly Wilson, John Sanderson, and Cole Griffin, along with countless others who simply called her “Mama.”
Betty Fay Peck Sears lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and a steadfast faith that inspired everyone who crossed her path. She taught us how to love deeply, serve joyfully, and embrace life with an open heart. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the gift of her life and the legacy she leaves behind, a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her two children, Felecia Self Rivera-Roacha, John Traver Self and wife Amber; nine grandchildren, Dustin Dehart, Tiffany Frost and husband Tyler, Gabriel Self, Levi Burgess and wife Brianna, Katie Self, Jacob Padron, Josiah Self, Lil John Self, Malachi Self; three great grandchildren, Weston, Mason, and Stetson Burgess; three siblings, Carrie Laysone, Jerry Peck, Jr. Blocker and wife Ruby.
