Betty Mae had a zeal for life, one that was driven by the many attributes people came to associate with her: compassion, loyalty, and an unshakable love for her family. She loved her family more than any words could ever fully express and made sure to call each of us every single day. It wouldn’t be honest or fair if we didn’t mention one of her most defining traits: stubbornness. But Betty’s stubbornness wasn’t random. It was rooted in everything else she stood for. She was stubborn in how deeply she could care, and stubborn in her fierce loyalty to anything involving her family. In the end, her stubbornness showed in the most touching way. She held on until every one of her grandchildren, or as she liked to call us, her little chicks, were in the room with her, along with Mary. Only then, surrounded by her family and a room filled with love, did she finally allow herself to go be with Papaw.
Pallbearers will be Tim Russell, Jay Lebrun, Brett Smalling, Chase Gonzales, Robert Lay, Drew Benton and Chris Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Walker, Kerry Walker and Steve Walker
