Funeral services for Betty Avant, 78, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Point Assembly of God Church with Rev. Louis Bartet officiating, assisted by Janet Durden. Interment will follow at Aulds Chapel cemetery.Betty was born September 6, 1929 in Dallas, Texas and passed away December 26, 2007 in West Monroe, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents Elby L. and Daisy Owen; and brothers Odell, Ernest, Fred, and Bill Owen. She is survived by her husband Roy Avant; brother Leon Owen and wife Maxine; sister Wanda Adams and husband Glen; children Jan Pierce and husband Jay, Benjamin Avant, and Crystal Lowry; and grandchildren Taylor Lowry and Sam Lowry.Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Adams, Rev. Lowell Ashbrook, Jim Creel, and Bob Giles.Betty spent many years working at Texas Instruments in Dallas and more recently 14 years at United Way of Northeast Louisiana. Her motto for work was, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. . .And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men.” Col. 3:17, 23 KJV Her faith in God and her dedication to emulating Christ defined her life. She was a lifelong member of Assemblies of God churches in Dallas; Huntsville, Alabama; West Monroe, and Point.Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 28, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana and 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Point Assembly of God Church.
