Benita Viola Gonzalez Jones, 89, of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed peacefully from this life on September 10, 2021, in West Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana. The Reverend Lonnie Smith will officiate. Pallbearers are Charlie Albritton, Jacob Albritton, Joshua Albritton, Keith Ecker, Johnny Gonzalez and and Derrick Jones. Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Benita was born on March 21, 1932, in Weslaco, Texas. After moving to Monroe, Louisiana, she met her husband of nearly forty years, Jimmy William Nathan Jones, Sr. She served faithfully in ministry alongside him in various capacities during their pastorates. A member of West Monroe Pentecostal Church, her wisdom and insights were of comfort to many over the course of her life.
Benita was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy William Nathan Jones, Sr., two sons, Timothy Andrew Jones and Jimmy William Jones, Jr., two stepsons, David Paul Jones and Joseph Nathan Jones, her grandmother, Juana Gonzalez, her father and mother, Julián and Elvirá, her stepfather, José Adame, her siblings, twins Pedro and Romanita Gonzalez, Lydia Gonzalez, and Juan Gonzalez, and beloved grand-dog, Bruno.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Anthony Jones and Julian José Jones of West Monroe, Louisiana, one daughter-in-law, Kathey Ward Jones (beloved wife of Timothy), of Smackover, Arkansas, one stepson, Gary Lane Jones and wife, Dianne, of Logtown, Oklahoma, one sister,
Josephine “Joey” Gonzalez Longoria and husband, Tony, of Houston, Texas, one sister-in-law, Tomasa “Tatcha” Cavazos Gonzalez (beloved wife of Juan), 5 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, including dear friend, Maria Guerrero, and beloved grand-dog, Brutus.
