Momma was born and raised in Eros, Louisiana. She went to school at Okaloosa School as a young girl and would tell us about playing basketball with the “big girls”. They would ask her to come play high school ball with them, because she was so good. Momma and Daddy were married on May 1, 1948, and were married for 62 years. They raised 5 girls together. Momma was a christian and attended Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She was proud to add a recipe or 2 to the church cookbook.
Our Mother was a true southern lady, who loved her family dearly and who always showed that love through her laughter and abundant wisdom, and by setting examples for her girls to follow. Momma loved to cook and everyone that knew her, was welcome to stop by her and Daddy’s home to see first hand and were always welcomed with a hug. Mom’s specialty was her chocolate sheet cake and many were recipients of one. Momma and Daddy had a hunting camp in Caldwell Parish. This was where most of our childhood memories evolved. Around Halloween each year, we had a family Halloween party with hot dogs and chili and always a hayride down the country roads. All who ever came had a great time and the memories are forever locked in our hearts. They were precious memories for sure. As time goes by we can reflect on our good family life well lived, thanks to our Mother and Dad.
