Our precious mother, Barbara Jane “Cooter” Nolan, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, June 5, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born June 21, 1935 in Marion, La.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2022 beginning at 9:00 with the funeral to follow at 11:00. Officiating will be Bro. Kurt Auger and Bro. Matt Coker.
“Cooter” as she was called all her life, was the baby of her family, and was preceded in death by her father, Clifton Nolan, her mother, Ida Nolan, three siblings, Ollie Ham, Louise Popwell and Thomas Murphy, along with two son-in-laws, Ricky Mike and Andy Nolan.
She is survived by her daughters, Trinky Jones (Ronnie) and Sandy Smith (Tim); grandchildren, Chris Mike (Emily), Erik Nolan (Haley), Kelsey Stanley (Josh), Kali Smith, Mike Jones (Edie) and Eddie Jones. She thought her six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren hung the moon and loved them all dearly as they did their Meme. She is also survived by two nieces, Gayle Malone, who was like a sister, and Marsha Popwell along with several other nieces and nephews and one brother, Clay Nolan.
Barbara grew up in Linville, La. and graduated from Linville High School where she played basketball and made her lifelong friends, Gloria Love and Floette Crow. Through all the years, they maintained a friendship that she cherished. They could go for long periods, not see each other, yet their friendship never waned.
Pallbearers will be Chris Mike, Erik Nolan, Mike Jones, Eddie Jones, Josh Stanley, and Austin Dupree.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ventors, the staff of both Union General Hospital and Arbor Lake, for the excellent care she received there.
While we will miss her so much, we know where she is now and that she is rejoicing with Jesus and her loved ones as they are reunited. We are all very thankful that she was loaned to us, as a Mama and a Meme.
Barbara was a member of Paron Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Paron Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.
