Babs was born January 19, 1947 in Minden Hospital. She passed away at her home in Ruston on July 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Babs was an administrative assistant and worked in the College of Education of LA Tech for 18 ½ years. She enjoyed her job and loved her co-workers. The funeral will be at Kilpatrick Chapel in Ruston on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rusty Gilbert. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday July 5, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Rocky Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Lisbon. Babs was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 ½ years: John T. Gates: her parents: Prentis A. and Mavinee Suggs of Homer, LA; and her sister: Jeanne. Survivors include her husband of 11 years: Herman Ray Trussell; her children: Shawn Gates of Camp Pendleton, CA, and Anna Berry of Keithville, LA; grandchildren: Shawna and Tyler Gates of Victorville, CA. and John Hunter, Charlie and Henry Berry of Keithville; sisters and brother: Glenda and Duane Reagan of Acworth, GA, Annie and James Scriber of Lisbon, LA and Sonny and Kay Suggs of Baton Rouge, LA; and many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Sullivan, Ricky Basinger, Ted Johnston, Toby Sinclair, Rick Louden and Brian Louden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terri Sullivan, Dawn Basinger and Tammy Johnston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Professional Hospice Care, 118 Monticello Ave. Ste. A, Ruston, LA 71270. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
