Annie Stuckey Tanner died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at the age of 91, at St. Clare Manor, Baton Rouge, LA. She was born in Ruston, grew up in West Monroe, and resided in Bernice 67 years before moving to Baton Rouge in 1998 to be near her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred Ann and Tommy Henry of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter, Milette Gathright of Prairieville; grandson and wife, Ty and Sherri Henry of Pass Christian, MS; great-granddaughter, Hayden Henry; great grandsons, Aubrey Gathright and Hayes Henry; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. F. Tanner; parents Ernest and Polly Stuckey; sisters, Frances Taylor, Iva Causey, Pearl Collins, Effie Dozier; and brothers, Savery Stuckey, Sam Stuckey, and Loyle Stuckey. She received B. S. and M.S. degrees from Louisiana Tech University, and in 1986 she was honored as the university≠s College of Education Alumnus of the Year. A member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators, she retired from teaching in Linville and Bernice after 20 years of service. Know for her teaching and cooking skills, she loved he family, church, students, friends and La. Tech. She was a member of University Baptist Church, Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 8, 2007, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston. Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery, Ruston. The family gives special thanks to the St. Clare Manor staff for their loving and compassionate care the past 3 _ years and especially the last week.
