Ann Louise Freeman Peters passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home July 28, 2014. Celebration of life services will be held at Fair Park Baptist Church Historic Chapel in West Monroe, LA on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 10:00 AM with spiritual supporters and friends officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Wisner, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.Ann was born May 9, 1939 in Laurel, MS, the eldest of three daughters of E.E. and Louise Heimbach Freeman. She graduated from Winnsboro High School and Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She married her lifelong love, James (Jim) Peters, on August 25, 1960.She was an avid reader and lifelong learner and a passionate supporter of programs for the welfare of children. She felt privileged to be a homemaker and mother, and shared in the operation of her husband‚ business. Ann was a master of psychology of Jim and her family, and a doctor of psychology of her children.Ann is preceded in death by her parents, E.E. and Louise Freeman of Winnsboro, LA. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of fifty-four years, Jim Peters, and her three children, Krista Michele Brown Elayan and her husband Jamil, Eric Todd Peters and Kimberly Ann Peters Craft. She is also survived by sisters Kay Scott and husband Aaron of Winnsboro, and Sue Grace and husband Ted of Monroe.Ann is also survived by three granddaughters and a grandson: Lauren Brown Strange and husband Brandon of New Orleans Baptist Seminary, Kaitlyn Brown, Amanda Brown, and Garnett Elayan of Athens, GA.Ann has five nieces and a nephew: Lesley Holmes and husband Mike, David Scott and wife Jessica; Melanie Routon and husband Jay, Angela Fisher and husband Paul, Amanda Newman and husband Sam, Leigh Grainger and husband Brian. Ann was also blessed with numerous grand nieces and nephews.Ann and her family resided in West Monroe, LA most of her life. She was deeply involved in anything regarding the welfare of her husband and children anda daily partner in the operation of Jim‚ business. As a longtime member of Fair Park Baptist Church, she worked with children when hers were young. Most recently,Ann was a member and teacher of the Magdalene Sunday School Class until health issues prevented her from continuing. Ann was a charter participant in Fair Park‚ Operation Christmas Child Program. She continuously supported St. Jude Children‚ Hospital and Northeast Louisiana Food Bank. Ann's guiding principle of good stewardship of resources was based on Luke 16:10 “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much…”Ann was a true southern lady who loved life, her family and friends. She loved waves on the beach, antebellum homes, bed and breakfasts and candlelit dinners. Flowers were her delight, and Jim filled her yard with them, especially her favorite yellow roses. She was known for her supply of get-well, birthday, anniversary and encouragement cards for the loving notes she sent friends and family.Ann will be missed by everyone, especially her husband, Jim, as she was the better half of his life. He is sustained by the assurance that she is at home with her Heavenly Father, restored from the ravages of illness, and the faith that he will be with her again.Donations may be made in Ann‚ honor to St. Jude Children‚ Hospital, Northeast Louisiana Food Bank, Gideon‚ International Bible distribution, or the charity that is meaningful in your life.
