Alice Crow GregoryAlice Crow Gregory died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 20, 1920, in Ruston, the daughter of Aubrey Crow and Bess Davis Crow. Alice was a graduate of Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and served as the 1938 Homecoming Queen. She married Albert Huey Williamson in 1941 and lived in various locations throughout the United States during his wartime service in the U.S. Army Air Force. After the war, they returned to Ruston where she was a founding member of the Culture Guild of Ruston. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden Club of Ruston, the choir of Trinity Methodist Church and the Miriam Circle at Trinity.In her later years, she studied Spanish, participated in foreign studies programs with Louisiana Tech, and became an accomplished water color artist. Throughout her life, she was an avid bridge player, belonging to the same two bridge clubs for over sixty years. She loved exploring and traveling and maintained a keen curiosity and zest for life until her final illness. In 2006, she was delighted to attend the swearing-in of her son as a United States Ambassador by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Crow and Bess Davis Crow, and her first husband Huey Williamson.She is survived by her husband, Garland Gregory, whom she married in 1998 and shared nine wonderful years ? among the happiest of her life. She is also survived by daughter Beverly Marcantel of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Janice Thiel, and husband, David, of Atlanta, Georgia; son Al Williamson, and wife Lillian, of Ruston; son Clint Williamson, and wife Ivana, of Washington, D.C.; and step-daughter Josie Herbert, and husband Allen, of Ruston. She had ten grandchildren and thirteen great grand-children.The family wishes to thank Dr. Shane Phillips, Dr. Tommy Smith, and Dr. Jeb Butler for their attentive care. The family also wants to express its sincere appreciation to Katherine Agbaih, Val Bridges, Lela Chaney, Renee Johnson, Tracy McElduff, Theresa Mason, Debra Newton, Lucy Newton, Sheila Newton, Christy Patten, and Linda Patten for the devoted, compassionate, and loving care they provided to Alice over the past few months.Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston at 10:00 am on Monday, March 17, 2008, with the Rev. Fred Wideman and Rev. Rolly Walker officiating. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2008.Pall bearers will be Greg Herbert, Mark Herbert, John Herbert, Joel Marcantel, Scott McIntosh, and JP Nugent.
