Albert Junior Kelly, born February 20, 1927, was called home on the morning of December 26, 2017. He passed at home surrounded by his loving family. Albert was a veteran of World War II and he was a father and grandfather to numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and was the loving husband of Clara Faye Harville Kelly.Albert and Faye story was one of true love and devotion. They were able to celebrate seventy years of marriage together. She has lost her best friend, but finds comfort in her family, and in knowing he will be waiting for her at Heaven gates. Albert was the model of a humble servant; his many acts of kindness were known only to those blessed to have received them.As owner of Kelly Ironworks, Albert was affectionately known as The Iron Man. His craftsmanship can be seen throughout the twin cities and the surrounding areas. Albert started building clothesline poles in his backyard for extra money while working full-time with the Illinois Central Rail Road. After years of hard work, iron became his passion and livelihood. He was asked to travel to Washington D.C. in 1997 to build one of his locally famous Barbeque grills for a feature in the Smithsonian. Albert was a strong-willed family man that wanted nothing more than to take care of the people around him.Along with serving in the Second World War, Albert was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the J.C. Stewart Masonic Lodge and a member of the Barak Shrine. In 2015, Albert was invited to be a part of Brookshire Hero flight. The family would like to thank Brookshire for providing him with one of the highlights of his life.Left to cherish his memory are his six children and their spouses; James Albert, and wife Peggy Kelly, Kathryn Dianne, and husband Roger Samoff, Kenneth Wayne, and wife Laurie Kelly, Lisa Ann and husband Mike Dixon, Misty Lynn and husband Chris Howse, and Karen Lynette and husband Thomas Spruell, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; two sisters: Lillian Sims and Mary Anderson, brother Harvey John Carsey, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Ina Mae Kelly Carsey; father, Albert James Kelly; step-father, Harvey John Carsey, Sr.; sisters; Dorothy Kelly Anding, Sue Kelly Freeland & Marion PeeWee King; brother; Courtney Doc Kelly; grandson; James Paul Kelly; great-granddaughter; Autumn Renee Spruell.Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 28th at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 29th at Rowland Road Baptist Church, Monroe with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating along with Rev. John Yates.
