Alan, a native of Shreveport, La. passed away Wednesday morning at Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Alan was a retired Store Manager for Brookshire Grocery Company with over 30 years of dedicated service. Alan was an award winner of the Bruce G. Brookshire Hall of Fame. During his early years on a day off, you could usually find him on a deer stand in Ringgold, La or in a boat on the Cane River in Natchitoches, La. Well before cell phones he said nobody can track you down in the woods or on the lake to take a phone call and that’s where he found his peace and quiet on his days off. Alan grew up in Shreveport, La and was the son of the late Alan F. Turner Jr. and Doris Rhodes Turner. He was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Fair Park High School, Class of 1970. Alan met the love of his life early in Junior High School and Married Corlis Allen Turner in 1971. In 1975 they welcomed their son Alan F. Turner III into the family, later in 1980 they would celebrate the birth of their daughter Amanda Renee Turner and in 1984 they would welcome Hollie Elizabeth Turner into the family.
Alan was deeply involved in the community and worked with local high school programs to provide meaningful employment to Distributive Educations students in the West Monroe and Monroe area. He is a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Fair Park Masonic Lodge. He is also a member of the Scottish Rite, El Karubah Shrine. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Corlis Allen Turner; his son Alan F. Turner III, his wife Nelly; his daughter Amanda Turner Toon, her husband John and his daughter Hollie Turner Sturdivant and her husband John; granddaughter Emma Elizabeth Toon; grandson Harper Alan Sturdivant; his wonderful sister Doris Ann Ebarb and her husband Winston Ebarb; niece Lori Reeves; nephew Phillip Ebarb and many other nieces and nephews.
