David was born on May 3, 1959 in Bernice, LA and passed from this life on December 31, 2020. He attended Claiborne Elementary, West Monroe Jr High and West Monroe High School where he was on the track team. He got his GED prior to joining the Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale AFB.
While in the Air Force, David married Stephanie Wobbema and they had one child, Scott Mitcham. They later divorced and he married Susie McGuire on July 22, 1988. Susie was his best friend and he was hers.
David was a hard worker and was always employed in jobs that required him to be outside. He loved the country, farming, cutting the grass, and fishing. When he did something, he gave it his all. He loved woodworking and made several pieces of furniture and snowmen for friends and family.
He adored his family and it was everything to him. He was a unrelenting picker and loved to tell “stories” of family memories. He loved family celebrations and church fellowships especially if it involved food.
He was led to the Lord by Bro. Pittman at the age of 13. He was baptized and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He moved his letter to Hyde Park Baptist Church where he and Susie have attended since their marriage.
After an ice storm in Mississippi, the family moved to Cleveland, MS for about 4 years only to return home to West Monroe permanently.
He loved being a husband to Susie, dad to Scott and Gramps to Jaymz, Brooke and Aden. He loved the West Monroe Rebels, Saints and his LSU Tigers. He loved Waffle House coffee, DQ banana splits and vanilla shakes. And he loved everyone he loved with his “whole heart!”
He is preceded in death by his dad A. J. Mitcham.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Susie Mitcham, son, Scott Mitcham (Brandy); mother, Martelle Mitcham Garris; brother, Kenny Mitcham (Rebecca); sister, Kathy Allen (Preston), 2 grandsons, Jaymz and Aden Mitcham, granddaughter, Brooke Mitcham; a host of other family and many friends.
